Click resolution options
I find this so counterintuitive...!
a) You can set the click resolution when you change the tempo http://duc.avid.com/attachment.php?a...1&d=1629884075 b) You can also set the click resolution when you change the meter. http://duc.avid.com/attachment.php?a...7&d=1629884151 Which one takes priority when they're both set to different things? Or are they indicating different things? It's so confusing. And then... c)What on earth is up with the click plug-in? If you take "Follow Meter" off it just goes completely crazy. Example- 1. New session 2. New click track 3. Set meter to "6/8" and click resolution of 8ths (quavers) starting at bar 1 4. Now switch off "FOLLOW METER" on the click plugin, and set "Click 1" and "Click 2" to quavers. 5. What the hell is going on? Mine's counting 4 clicks and then nothing for the final 2 quavers. I mean what the hell?? What possible use is that to anyone? If you then set it back to crotchets (quarters) it just beats once per bar! I mean, what the actual??? Why is it so mind-numbingly awful? Why have this "Follow Meter" option if it just fails to work when it's not on? Dreadful. |

Yes, they could definitely have done a better job of making this clear, but once you grok it it's pretty easy: A Tempo marker has two parameters: Tempo and Resolution. Resolution determines what the metric resolution of the "Tempo" setting means; in other words if Tempo is set to 120 and resolution is a quarter note, then 1/4 notes go by at 120bpm. But if Tempo is set to 120 and resolution is an eighth note then *1/8th* notes will go by at 120 (and a 1/4 note will be going by at 60). This is necessary for tempos other than x/4; IOW 2/2, 12/8, 1/1, etc... All of this affects click indirectly. The direct setting of what the click actually is is set in the Meter dialog "Click" parameter (not called "resolution") and is simple: do you want 1/8th note click? 1/4 note click? etc. It's not a question of which one takes priority; both dialogs affect click as they should. Honestly, I have no idea why the click plug even has the ability to disable "Follow Meter" and under what workflow that would be useful, but perhaps someone else has the answer to that.

Re: Click resolution options
Another thing that can wreak havoc is if the session has any tempo change
