Old versions and duplicate source file names

I am working to restore an older Protools session from an earlier version of Protools TDM created in 2001. In that session there are regions that use different source recordings from different folders, but the source files have the same name (overhead_pair_L.1, overhead_pair_R.1 is used in four folders, for example) rather than unique names. Can anyone point me to information on how best to relink these regions to the correct sources since some will link to the "overhead_pair_L.1" file in folder 1, some to the "overhead_pair_L.1" folder 2, etc.? Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I don't know since which version of PT, Digi made PT to give unique ID to each file in addition to the file name. if the version of the PT created that session gave unique ID to the files, you are lucky. in the missing files window, click on the relink button. check the unique ID only, and let PT find the files.

Unfortunately, it was made before unique ids were generated. Thanks, though.
