Best Current Windows Backup Software That Plays Nice With PT
Hey all. Time to finally upgrade from my ancient Acronis True Image software. Wondering what everyone's using these days, with an eye for software that doesn't cause any conflicts with Pro Tools. I'll be doing strictly local, daily backups, and will need to make a new bootable system clone. Any advice appreciated.

I use Samsung Data Migration to back up my Windows C drive, and it works GREAT, as long as the target drive is a Samsung drive. No concerns with it interfering with Pro Tools since I NEVER attempt a backup while anything else is running.

For me Macrium Reflect. It's what I moved to from Acronis after a lot of research.

Right, thanks. Macrium seems to fly under the radar because it never shows up in the "best of" surveys, but does have a lot of fans in the audio community. Are the "Home" or free versions hardy enough for a one-man post shop, or are there essential features in the "Workstation" versions?

Take the Home version, it's all I use and need as a one-man home studio. It's worth the cost as it has Image Guardian for all your images, you can set up email notifications, and a few other things Free doesn't have.
I've set up Definition Files triggered by Icons on my Taskbar for my Audio drive and my OS drive. I do Full rather than Incremental backups nightly and keep 5 rolling Images. The Audio drive Definition File deletes the oldest Backup Image and then does a Full Backup Image of the drive and emails me about Backup Success, a Backup with Warnings, or a Backup Failure. The OS drive Definition File deletes the oldest Backup Image and then does a Full Backup Image of the drive and emails me about Backup Success, a Backup with Warnings, or a Backup Failure, and then turns off the computer. At day's/work's end, I first click the Audio Definition File Icon, wait for the Backup to start, then click on the OS Definition File Icon, turn off the monitor and go watch TV or go to bed.

Backupper Pro might be worth a look. They have a free version, but the Pro version has a specific feature for backing up or cloning boot drives. I have also had good luck with Macrium Reflect.
