Default Vista environment . . .

Am I to understand that:
Pro Tools (HD, LE, et al) on the Vista 64 bit platform has issues, even if run in 32 bit compatibility mode? I've installed the LE software incl. in Mbox2 Mini (v7), upgraded to v8 (cs2), but cannot "hear" the sample tracks/templates.
I'm a newbie to digital & would appreciate some "from the ground up" pointers, starting with the processing environment . . .
Win Vista (64); i7-920; eVGA x58 mobo; 6 GB 1333 (DDR3 Dominators); 300GB VelociRaptor; 1T Caviar Black; nVidia GTX 285; dual monitors; ProTools 8 LE; Mbox2 Mini
Thanks in advance . . .

Since 64 bit is not supported or recommended, you are kind of on your own for support. Having said that, there are a handful that are trying it with some success reported. As for not being able to hear anything from your setup, here's a few things to mull over. First off, you need headphones or powered speakers attached to the Mbox(Pro Tools does not play thru your computer speakers). And since you are a newbie, I bet there's a good chance you have no idea what the MIX knob does, so set it at 12 o'clock for testing and read up on how and why for this control as it will be your friend.

Thanks guys . . .
As usual, knowing that it's possible to go from Tampa to Miami is one thing, knowing that there's no need to go through Orlando makes "the trip" a lot more meaningful. I'll try the suggestions, read other posts (& post back) to try & become a valued member of this community . . .
Seriously, all looks well at Pro Tools LE start-up - some screens will not drag to the second monitor (Edit & Mix) - which is too bad, but . . .
Thanks again!

Stretch PT across both monitors, the you can hove both screens up at once. Save with Alt+ f4 to keep your configuration.
