Default Carbon Pro Tools Standard License

I understand that Carbon comes with a Pro Tools Subscription license (along with the promo until 12/31/21). If you don't extend the Pro Tools subscription after one year from activation it turns into a perpetual license. My question is what happens if I renew the subscription after the first year but don't re-up after the second or any other year thereafter?

So by (along with the promo until 12/31/21) I assume you talking about the additional Ultimate license yes ?

In any case :::

Once you let the subscription plan expire and it turns into a Perpetual license it will continue work, at the version it was at is when it expires,,,, but you will be frozen at that version and will not able to upgrade it ..

In which case to get back into being able to upgrade you have to either get on a monthly or yearly Subscription "only" plan, OR buy a brand new full price license, which comes with a 1 year Support/update plan, and gets you back on the ability to maintain that annual Support/update plan ( at least that is how it stands currently)

Actually I was talking about the Pro Tools Standard license, not the Ultimate license which is part of the on going promotion. I just need clarification for the standard license which is initially a year's subscription if I don't re-up the second year or thereafter. It's clear what happens if you don't re-up after the first year but who's to say what happens 3, 4 or 5 years down the line when Avid's policy change due to new a leadership? I just need to know if there's a rule in place we can revert to if there's a discrepancy with licensing in the future? Maybe someone from Avid (like Jeffro) can answer that question. Example is I re-up for several years but in 2025 I decide not to re-up and wish to stay at my then current version of 2025.10

I could be wrong but I doubt anybody, weather from Avid or not, can predict 3-5 years into the future with much accuracy

So if your asking if the perpetual license will still work even 3-5 years down the road after letting subscription expire ? the likely answer is, probably Yes, because there is not much of a reason why it wouldn't
But ultimately that is still just somewhat informed speculation based on the fact there isn't much of a practical method, or financial reason for Avid to get into a machine with a frozen perpetual license and somehow block it not to work (if that is even possible) ..

What could happen in the future is Avid could stop selling perpetual licenses altogether and go subscription only ,,,,and perhaps even (albeit extreme) stop allowing annual Support/Upgrade plans for current perpetual licenses. But in either case I doubt they would try to block frozen perpetual licenses from working. Especially since all the user would have to do is simply take the machine off the internet, and there would no possible way Avid cold do anything about a functioning perpetual license...

It's a moot point now. I extended my Ultimate license by one year and I have a second Ultimate license in waiting.
