using delay- at certain points
What is the best suggestion in using delay. I don't want it on a whole track only a 5 second section. What I have been doing is placing that section on a whole different track. I know it must be another way.

Re: using delay- at certain points
The best way is:
1. Create a new stereo Aux Channel, place the delay plug on that, set it as desired. 2. For every track taht you want to send to the delay, create a new send to an unused bus (ie. Bus 1-2). 3. On the aux channel, set its Input to Bus 1-2 (same as the sends). 4. Set the automation mode for each track that you're sending to the delay to Auto Write or Auto Latch. 5. You can now automate turning the send on/off at points where you want to (or don't want to) send the track to the delay. 6. If you don't want to do it manually (by Command-Clickinc on the send while the track plays back), you can change your view in the Edit window for that specific track (under where it says Waveform, Blocks. Volume, Pan,etc.) to show the bypass automation of the send. Baiscally, rather than inserting the delay on the track(s) itself, you can now send the audio from any track to the 'delay channel' (new aux track) at any point you see fit. - fred |
