Is screensharing the key to the spinning beachball of death in Pro Tools 8 ?
Since the upgrade to PT 8 + Snow Leopard i´m using screen sharing a lot. Now that i´ve done all the troubleshouting stuff that Digi ( hups..Avid ) recommends: clean install, add more RAM, update all plugs etc. i still get the spinning ball from time to time ... I´ll give it a try in the next few days, but i would love to here some suggestions / experiences Thanks T-Low |

So after a few days without any network connection, i still get the spinning ball 1-3 times a day ...out of nowhere
Another question about the "unused " folder. Can plug ins in the "unused" folder affect PT in any kind ? Thanks T-Low |

Do your beachballs result in a crash? or does PT return to functioning? Its a sign that the OS is working on something! sometimes it finishes and returns to normal sometimes it gets frozen and you have to force quit etc! What happens if you leave the beachball for a while? Chris

Ah. But DTS says we need to flush the pref's after taking plugs out of the folder - the data is still cached.
So yeah, plugs in the unused can still cause issues!

Did you do a clean install of SL?
I didn't do a clean install and had the balls for a while. After few issues and few permission fixes now it's OK. Check your console and activity monitor for clues as to what's going on. |

Same here. Did not initially do a clean install of SL. Things started to slow down after 2-3 months. Had a free weekend and did a full clean install on a new HD. All problems (like you're having) vanished and it's been fast as can be for months now.
