Default Mbox 3 not sticking as system output device

Running ProTools 9, Mbox 3, 10.6.5.

Never had this issue in the past with Mbox 2 Mini/LE8.

On every system boot, default audio output device in System Preferences is set to built in output. I have to change it to Avid Mbox to hear output from iTunes etc, on every system restart.

Anyone else noticed this? Doesn't happen with a presonus audio interface i tried connected.

Just wondering if Digi's drivers are purposefully deselecting the Avid Mbox on boot for compatibility/reliability reasons?
