Every U.S. developer that is a publicly traded corporation had to change their business model due to court rulings about to how accounting gets reported to stockholders. Software sales can no longer include credit towards future upgrades. The only legal business models are free upgrades followed by charging full price for new versions, subscription or what Avid is doing with service plans. Apple, Microsoft and Adobe all had to shift gears to one of these.
Okay then how do you explain what entities like for instance Plugin Alliance do that when a new version of a plugin comes out you don't pay full price? For instance I have the original Indent and when Dent 2 just came out I could get Dent 2 for $29 versus the full price of $99?

edit for additional:
Or how about NI with the update to Komplete 11? If you have an earlier version of Komplete (like I have K9) you don't pay full boat.

This information should be shared by Avid to its customers. Simply and directly. His constraints would be better understood. That said, there are many other causes of Avid's difficult marketing and development relationships with its customers, or at least one category of customers. I think, Bob, that you agree with that.

It has been shared which is how I know about it. People are blinded by their concept of big bad Avid. There are also internet trolls who seem related to Avid's competition or are trying to influence the stock market. I by no means think Avid couldn't have done a great many things better over the years but their new business model was forced on them and is not an evil exercise in greed.

But Unfiltered Audio which develops Dent & other plugins and sells through PIA is American. PIA is nothing more than a web based store front for developers.
