Default back in the game-need synth help

I used to own PTLE with an 001. I made good use of it, but it's long gone. I moved to logic with reason for a few years, but have been out of the home recording game for ten years or so.

I just bought a new setup- a macbook pro, PT10, an mbox pro, and an artist mix.

I set it up, including a midi controller keyboard, but I have no sounds.

I'm wondering if I should:

1. Buy a soft synth-digi's or...?
2. Upgrade to the new reason and rewire it?
3. Buy the new logic with all the instruments and rewire it?

Thanks for any opinions.

You say you have no sounds. PT10 comes with several virtual instruments that are quite useable. They are in a separate download/installer that you may have missed. Xpand 2 is like having a Triton or Motif with the variety of sounds it has.

Besides that, most 3rd party virtual instruments will work with Protools and there are plenty to choose from. But the ones that come free with PT10 should be fine to get you started.

Thanks,
Yes, I must have missed xpand-I noticed in the demo sessions I loaded that that plug in was greyed out. I'll look for the download.

Looks for the Avid Virtual Instruments 10.3 Installer (Mac) [2780.29 MB] in your Avid account or the Downloads on the Pro Tools 10.3.3 page.
