What output connector do you have? Mini-DVI?

Go to Monoprice.com and save some cash.

You will not get audio output through the HDMI, though, as DVI does not pass audio.

that's the thing, I'm not sure what kind it is. I bought the MacBook in december 2007. That's why I'm asking really. Will I need to get an adaptor too or will I be ok?

Well it's pretty easy to tell... But I got my MBP around the same time, so it should be a full-sized DVI port. Most LCD HDTVs have a standard VGA port in the back, and you should be able to use the included DVI to VGA adapter that came with your MBP, and just plug it into the back.

Thats the problem, i appear to have the only HD television in the world without a VGA port. So i'm looking for other options.. I'm pretty certain that the DVI end will fit my MBP, but will the cable work? And will the picture be good?

No worries on that - I have my mac pro (DVI) hooked up to my 42" HDTV(HDMI) with a DVI-HDMI Cable from best buy ($30?)

Man I love it - tons of real estate - clear picture - not as many pixels as I'd like, but for my purposes works great.

You can buy the same adapter on monoprice.com for about $8 shipped. I just got one today and it works great on my macbook with mini dvi to hdmi. Bummer no sound.

Yeah, you should be going DVI to HDMI instead of to VGA...
My HDTV at home plays verrrrry nicely with my MBP!
And, yeah, never pay retail for cabling... go for monoprice, etc.
