Default i pod connectivity

howdy yall. brand new to the post.
anywho, i just got an ipod and i want to use it to store and play all of my music so i can get it all off my G4's hard drive. i have the basic G4 to Mbox to m-audio BX5 (powered) monitor speakers and i cant seem to figure out how to put my ipod in the mix. Do i need to be going through the line in of my laptop of the spdif of the mbox?
any help at all here would be great guys.

i gorgot to mention i have the ipod docking base with the line out for audio on it.

Play the files from the ipod through itunes.

The only way to get music onto the iPod (in such a way that you can play it on the iPod) is to use iTunes to transfer it from the computer via the firewire port. If you have the iPod in "hard drive" mode you can transfer sound files to the iPod, but it won't be able to play them.

I don't think you can play them back from iTunes unless they're in the iTunes library on your hard drive, but I may be wrong about that.
