I ask as I am considering the MTRX Studio and currently own an Omni, so my monitoring needs would be covered with the MTRX Studio |

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
Good question. Remember that the IO associated with the OMNI can not be used within the Monitor Profile construct in DADman. The IO on OMNI can certainly be used as standard Pro Tools analog and digital IO to augment that of the MTRX Studio however.

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
Hello!
Found this old thread but it somewhat relates to my problem/question. Current setup: 2pcs of HD I/O-->Sonnet Chassis including 2 HDX cards-->Optical thunderbolt 2 to iMac Problem/question: If I would want to add a Avid MTRX (or MTRX Studio) unit to this system can I still use the existing HD I/O converters? If yes then is there any downside doing so and how would the correct setup/connections be? Reasons to get MTRX are SPQ, Dante and possibly more I/O. Thank you! |

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
Greetings,
Yes, the recommended way to deploy would be to fully hook up 64 channels (2x 32 channels of DigiLink) from MTRX Studio for example to HDX Card 1, then to hook the 2 HD IO units to HDX Card 2. best, Jeff |

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
Hi Jeff/all, when connecting HD I/O to MTRX Studio+HDN, is there a limitation to sample rate during tracking? My goal is to be able to track 40+ channels at 96kHz.
I picked up a Carbon, but realized too late that I'd be limited to 24 channels of analog I/O (at 96kHz) so will be returning it and just trying to figure out the right config of gear to get. I've been using Apollos for 13 years so it's been a bit of a ramp to get up to speed on the in's and out's (-; of Avid hardware. My use case is I have a physical console (cadac J Type) with 32 channels of input/AUX and 8 group channels and want to converters 'hard wired' to each of these 40 outputs. Thanks, Pat |

Anyone know the answer to this?

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
There are no channel limitations with DigiLink. As stated previously, I would hook up MTRX Studio to HDN Port 1 and then 1 or 2 HD IO units to HDN Port 2.

Re: MTRX Studio with HD I/O
Thanks for confirming Jeff, that's great news. Would it be the same case when connecting the Omni up to HD I/O units?
