Default Problems with Dual Core Function in 7.0

I am presently running Pro Tools 7.0 LE on an M-Box 2 and an 002 with the following setup:

Pentium D 820
160 GB Program Hard Drive
160 GB Recording Hard Drive
2 GB Ram

Pro Tools functions perfectly fine when I am recording with the Dual Processor feature turned off. However, when I turn it on my computer freezes up when working with any more than a minimal track count.

Any idea what my problem could be? Thank you in advance for your responses.

I have the same problem. I am running an MBox 2 with a few month old Dell e1405. I went through all the windows optimization suggestions on the support website. I kept having buffer errors while recording or playing back with more than a couple of tracks. Once I got into the bios, and turned off the other processor everything worked great. I couldn't live with running the V8 on 4 cylinders though, so I kept digging. I finally disabled my Bluetooth Wireless in the Bios, and this helped alot. I am back to running both processors. I have gotten up to about 8 tracks with just a few buffer errors. I am still not satisfied, so I just ordered an Apple. I hope that solves all of my problems. I guess I just really want to run Pro Tools, but my Zoom DAW is looking real good right now.

I have the same problem running mbox 2 with a Toshiba Sattelite laptop. I'm going to try disabling the bluetooth to see if it helps, but right now it runs well with the dual core disabled.

One question I have never found an answer to - When you disable dual core processing, how does it affect the computer's ram utilization? Am I getting a much slower running PTLE and computer because of it?

I have 2048 mb of ram, and like I said it runs good, but I'd like to know exactly what I'm giving up to run the processors that way.

Good Luck!
