Default SanDisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SSD Data Loss Reports

Especially since I've recommended SanDisk Extreme Pro external drives alongside my go to of Samsung drives... If using a SanDisk Extreme or Extreme Pro drive I'd keep my eye on what is going on here.

And a reminder: almost everybody should be working off SSD not HDD it's so much faster and it helps delivers better overall DAW performance/stability, but the best backup and archive drives are HDD *not* SSD. Something is not really backed up until it's copied to multiple different drives, kept in multiple different locations, ideally including cloud storage.

Good advice that I will add my own spin to;
1-if it doesn't exist in at least 3 places, its not backed up(thanks to Craig Anderton).(and yes, 1 of those places should be off-site, either using the cloud, or taking a backup drive to another location).
2-never assume you aren't at risk because your system or drive(s) are new. Some of my losses were on spinners less than 2 weeks old and an SSD that was barely 6 months old

I refuse to use Sandisk after they attempted to deny warranty on a failed SSD because it was in use in a "workstation." And by workstation, this was a P series Thinkpad laptop.
And there was no actual "limitation" to the warranty based on the computer type anyway.

And then we had 4 of the Sandisk SSDs fail in the course of a year. All ended up being replaced by Sandisk after an argument but we never trusted them ever again in any studio (all were replaced for daily use by Intel or Samsung SSDs which have yet to fail while the replaced Sandisk SSDs went into a drawer -- only to be used for scrap storage)

Was that before or after the acquisition by Western Digital? Very concerning if it was after.

This happened Mar 2016 to May 2018. Western Digital had closed the deal May 2016.
