Will EC22.4 work with PT21.12 and S1?
AVID info says no, co-workers say yes.
What your experience? A case of "may work, but not supported"?

I can't yet jump on PT22.4 but really would like the coloured softkeys for visual feedback on preview and clear solo status.

So I tried it. EC22.4 with PT21.12. Works fine. The softkey colors on S1 seem to be quite buggy. Colour assignment only seem to update after pressing the keys. Also I have my default layout assigned to a softkey are it's super-bright red even though I have dark blue assigned to the key. It goes to the correct colour when I switch the key to a different layout but when hitting shift on the S1 it goes back to bright red. So overall I can't find a way to change to super bright red it uses for my layout. Also no idea where it gets the red color info from. After a bit more messing around the key with my layout is now very bright neon PINK even though it's got a very dark yellow assigned. Strange. It functions fine but the colours for layouts seem completely random. hm...

OK I think I know what the bug is.

I've got another layout on the same key with shift which is pink. Pressing shift recalls the color of that layer but releasing shift doesn't make the key fall back to the colour assigned to the non-shifted function.

So you need to assign the colour you want on the 7-key to the shift-7 key to work around it. Not great but at least that way you can set the extremely bright default colour to a lower level.

Softkey colors only come on when the control is on.

I have a layout recall assigned to one of the S1 softkeys. I also have set dark blue as its colour in the EC softkey settings and yet it is bright pink (which is essentially the colour of the same key but on the shift-layer). Not sure that's intended (?)

Are you sure you are not locked in shift?

I am. My shift is set to toggle while pressed only. (Latching shift OFF in settings)
Should be easy to replicate. It's only the set colour the first time I press it. Once I pressed shift it will use the colour of the shift layer and never come back to the non-shift colour. Until I restart or force a color reload via the EC app.
