Default Possible for hardware insert to be post fader

Hi all,
Using a Dugan mixer and although I have a workaround I was still wondering if there is a way to make the hardware inserts post fader.

thanks,

Steve

I don't know that there is a way to make the HW inserts post fader.
If there isn't, a workaround if you have enough channels would be the following
Unassign your mics from the the stereo bus. Let's call these 1-8.
Use your microphone channels (1-8) to send to the direct outs, set the direct output post fader, patch the direct out of the channel to the FOH 1/4 TRS that is feedi g your Dugan.
Now go to the next layer down in the desk(say 25-32), patch the input of these channel to your FOH inputs from the Dugan. Make sure that these channels are assigned to he stereo bus, set the faders to 0 and leave these channels alone.
You will do all your mixing on channels 1-8. This is a roundabout way of getting there, but I think it is gonna be the only one that you will find.

Moderator if there is a way to change the HW insert point, please send my response to file 13!

Nicolas

Nicolas beat me to it. There isn't a way to make the HW insert points post-fader, but the Direct Out pickoff trick works great.

Here's one simplification: rather than loop out/in through the physical TRS connectors, add eight simple plug-ins to the rack (such as a lightweight EQ3), route the Direct out of ch 1-8 to each plug-in, and return each plug-in's output to ch 25-32. Bypass the plug-ins so they're not inline. This approach essentially creates an internal loopback.

This is one of those instances where it would be very ideal to have the option to move the HW insert, as there isn't a really a good substitute for them.

They seem to pretty much be the cat's meow for discussions with multiple people.

Thanks for the replys. Just for the record I unassigned the channels from the ST bus and sent each to a group. Placed the Dugan on each group and sent to groups to L/R.

works like a charm and didn't need the groups for anything else

The problem for me is when I choose Post Fader for the Input Strip Fader Pickup Point, to be able to send Post Fader direct out to Dugan, I´m not able to send a Pre Fader to the PQ User Inputs. So I can´t send a Pre Fader - Post Mute to the musicians.
I have no more busses in spare.

Any solutions to this? - other than the possibility for hardware insert to be post fader, which would be great

Kristian
