PT 12.4 Windows 10 Pro
64 GB RAM A friend recently fixed some issues with my computer. Afterwards, my PLAY plugins would hang/crash PT upon attempting to instantiate. I deleted all virus protection programs I could find. Sounds Online support tried to figure it out, using TeamViewer, including a reinstall of PLAY; then downloading and attempting to open Opus, which I didn't have previously, with the same result - Hang/Crash. Log doesn't give any insight. Perhaps I'm not locating a virus protection program? Something else? Other plugins work fine, including Vienna Ensemble Pro, Ivory, Velvet, etc. etc. Suggestions?

Trash preferences?
The old plugin folder troubleshoot: Quit PT, move all plugins to the unused folder, launch PT, test. Quit PT, move back Play to plugin folder, launch PT, test. If OK, move back a few more plugins to plugin folder, launch PT, test. Repeat until Play fails. Then you have narrowed it down. On mac, I would use labels/colors to mark plugin files to have overview of what's tested, and for sorting. (FYI, PT will always reinstall the core plugins on launch, if they're not present in plugins folder. That's the way it works.)

Thanks for the ideas Ben. I trash prefs early and often. And when I remove all plugins except PLAY it still hangs up/crashes.

Yes we may talking about the simple matter of OS compatibility. Opus is a replacement for Play and will run on later systems. The problem is its a paid upgrade to get Opus.
Before committing to buying it, have a look on their website for Play's System Requirements and Supported Hosts and see if what you're using falls into that category. |
