Default Compatible Video Capture Card For G4 24 mix System

Please can anybody recommend a video capture card that would be compatible with my G4 OS9 24 mix system for post production work. The cards recommended on the digi site are both discontinued.

Well, I wouldn't bother with a card these days... Just get yourself a firewire capture box. I have a Pinnacle MovieBox DV, but I'm told the Canopus works well. Do a search here on the DUC and see if you can find anything about FireWire Capture devices.

Cheers and hope that helps!

How are these firewire based systems for things like scrubbing?

I've heard in the past they don't quite stack up to PCI card speeds but have yet to see them myself.
I'd be interested to hear from any users doing intensive post work how these compare in performance to - say the Aurora Fuse card running OS9 which coped very well.

Also interested in whether these firewire boxes can be forced to display a single field in a frame when parked - it's very annoying having a flashing screen when a system is trying to play back both fields when parked.

I use nudge instead of scrub so I can't speak to that, but in terms of the flickering I think it can be solved if the video is output through a de-interlace plug-in. FCP and Express has this I believe.
