Pro Tools 10 and iLok?? What??

Hey guys,

I recently saw that avid is offering a 30-day free trail for the new pro tools 10, however, I dont have an iLok at home nor do I have the "download"

I am currently using an SE version of PT which is hooked up to my interface. What is this iLok thing? I know its a secure USB so no one can hack into your software but do I need to buy an iLok to download a 30 day test trail (that be dumb) or just the software for ilok??

I really want to give 10 a shot!

Yeah. You need to buy an iLok to use the trial software.

Keep in mind that if you get serious about using Protools, many plugins and virtual instruments also use Ilok, so you might as well consider just getting one.

It basically holds your licenses so you can install the program on any computer and use whichever one your Ilok is plugged into. You don't have to worry about using up a certain amount of authorizations of the software like you do with certain programs that don't use Ilok.
