im frustrated: why isnt my computer recognizing mbox2?

so i bought a new mbox2 yesterday and tried to install it on my computer. i have an hp pav a230n ('03). i installed it alright(let me back track i uninstalled the default sound card that comes iwth the computer realtek ac97)..i installed the mbox and i can hear sound coming from the headphone but here's where the problem starts

first off the sound skips, everytime i open up a website or another program it stops the sound for a few seconds( i have 1gb of ram and about 25gb of space in my primary drive).

2nd.. when i open say for example reason 3.0, it says that there's no audio device/output connected..aka sound cards. i go in and i try to select a sound card and mbox audio is not even listed there.

and when i go to "advanced volume control".. or even volume control on the "accessories" in the start.. this is what shows up

says i should go to that location.. i go to that location and try adding new hardware but it cant find any new hardware thats the first thing..

i did trouble shoot and it said something about the skips could be due to the soundcard not being digitally signed http://img503.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ysignedix1.jpg


how do i make it digitally signed? maybe thats why its not showing up?

oh yeah when i go to start->accessories-> volume control and try to get that little slider thing that controls volume(since u can also click properties on that and select which interface u want to use)... this is what shows up http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/6...emixersem2.jpg

and if i follow that direction i go back to the pic that shows mbox audio drive is installed.



its so frustrating cuz i had a tascam soundcard before and when i installed it it just shows up on the list of audio devices and i can switch back and forth if i want between tascam and realtek.


just to reiterate...the mbox lights up and everything, i can hear sound that skips, i cant use my midi controller -emu xboard on Pro tools, reason 3.0, cubase...no where it doesnt work..when i use my mpc to record drums thru pro tools it records but there's a delay..like 2 seconds delay from when the drums start to when the waves start showing up.

i know this is looooong but any ideas folks?

are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista?

im using xp but its very similar problems.

I had the same problem with my hp laptop.

The only version that worked was 7.12, and then you have to download the update 7.12r2, you can get this form the digidesign website support. This will sort out your connection problems.

I have the same issue on XP and Vista, although Sonar does work under ASIO on my XP partition, but does not function under Vista. anyone got any ideas? I also have no sound out of any sort of Windows devices (media player,itunes,audition..etc)
