Default SE Gemini II Microphone - Any Opinions?

I am currently looking into microphones and preamps. I wondered if anybody had tried the new SE Gemini II microphone and what the opinions might be on this microphone? I will be running it into a Focusrite Red 7 preamp. Many thanks

Tony

The Gemini 1 is possibly the worst mic we have in our collection been repaired twice stupidly heavy and badly designed I know that this is not a II but I dont think i would ever consider buying another SE mic... Seems o be designed for looks rather than application.

Seems OK for vocals from about 10 cm but it's not in the same class as other valve mics all the reviews were favourable and I just can't help wonder if magazines can be believed anymore!

Again that is the original gemini

Cheers

I don't have the Gemini, but I do have a Z5600 (do they still make those?). Has a interesting character -- fat and round. Useful, but not my favorite all around vocal mic. Does work for some things though. For the money (I think at the time I paid about $450 for it) it's not bad -- kinda like a poor man's U47's. Their stuff got considerably more expensive when they switched to a third party distributor a couple of years ago.

i mixed a few songs containing vocals that were recorded with the Gemini>> A-Designs MP-1>> Tube Tech CL1b. It was a nice sound. kinda bright but nice. I didnt have to add much highend..
