Installer hang...

Just updated to Big Sur 11.2.3, and attempted to update ProTools to current. All went well until the final packages window "About a minute remaining..."

Two hours later, I am looking for ideas on what to do. I have filed a tech support request, but am guessing they don't work weekends.

Update: looked at activity monitor, don't see anything obvious going on, and everything else is working normally. Also, I just clicked on a project and it opened! Everything fine on that score, so my anxiety level is down.

Seems to be an installer glitch. My MBPro won't shut down, though, for a reboot. Says 'installation in progress'.

Just updated to Big Sur and then downloaded/installed 2021.3. Everything went fine without a glitch.

I guess it must be some local issue. Did you try to remove the current Pro Tools app from the Applications folder, and then run the update?

No I did not. I think I've gotten lazy with the years. That would have been a really good idea, along with running PTprefs tool.

I think it may well be local.

Perhaps do a force quit to close the installation in progress and then try installing again. You don't want something missing in the installation.

Right. I thought of that, tried but it warned me off. I do think I’ll end up uninstalling/reinstalling for that very reason.

For what it's worth, this is not the first time I've heard of PT installer stalling, and then turns out it has done it's job and the new PT installation works. Sorry I don't have anything specific.
