I just got the KRK V6 series 2 and I'm very happy so far. As mentioned, go listen with some of your favorite cds and decide then, as other people's opinions will only take you so far, you'll hear 12 different ones within the next few hourse, making it even more difficult. It's such a personal thing, KRK's were the best (and least hyped) sounding ones in the showroom, which is why I liked them and took them, you may find that the Yammies work best for you, etc...

Regardless of what sounds great in the store, do remember that your room and it's acoustics will alter the sound, sometimes an unpleasant surprise when you turn them on for the first time. Simply put, you just have to adjust and learn them over time.

I went with the V6 series 2.......sounded even better than the HR624's.

I bought mine at Guitar Center for $700...took them home and there was an annoying as hell buzz in the monitors....apparently there's a problem with a batch of V6 and V8 series 2's. Some type of grounding issue.

KRK has confirmed this.....I took them back to Guitar Center and compared them to the four they had and they all had the same buzzing sound.

KRK Systems, at the request of Guitar Center is sending me new ones and will provide return shipping for my current ones.

Check your monitors and if you hear the buzzing noise, I'd contact KRK and work with them to get them fixed/replaced.

The monitors are amazing, the tightest bass and mid and high I've heard in a monitor under $1000.

The only thing I though sounded better were the HR824's and probably some Dyna Audio's @ $2500, and of course some Genelec would sound good as well.

Thanks for the help and I hope this helps someone.

I have a new pair coming to me tomorrow, mine also have the buzz which is driving me insane. I didn't mention the buzz problem in my reply but I was already taking care of resolving the issue with KRK.

That said, if I had the $1500, I would have bought Dynaudio BM6A's.

I agree.

By the way....that's a sweet track you layed down...kind of like a slow chanting, hip-hop, jazzy, new age sound. The trumpet or horn....sounds really good (wide range with the perfect amount of delay/reverb).

I like the scratching too!

Thanks DK,

yeah, it's a trip-hop groove with a live trombone, inspired by one of the movements in Nutcracker. I'm giving KRK one more chance, they better deliver some flawless monitors tomorrow, or else (well, here's the irony), I'm going with the Dyns at twice the price!
