is it possible to perform a midi part transposed before recording?

Record-enable the track, and set the transpose value in the MIDI real-time properties (edit window).

Is the transpose button highlighted (active)? Have you entered a transpose value? The track record-enabled? If this doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is. Works just fine here.
