Despite all our best efforts, we simply cannot get PTLE7 Standalone ASIO to function.
Here's the deal :- I'm an IT technician by trade, so i'm not devoid of knowledge with drivers etc. I also have a share in a small recording studio, so i'm pretty well versed on all things audio related. I'm not a PT user myself - i'm fixing up a friend's system for him - so please forgive any ignorance on my part towards PT-specific issues. The system in question has worked fine for many years as a windows 98 / digi 001 system. after some fairly comprehensive hardware upgrades/replacements, we've upgraded the rig to windows XP (sp2). also, the guy who's rig this is no longer needs to do multichannel audio recording, and wishes to use many virtual synths etc. so the intention is to use cubase or nuendo as the host application, but still use the 001 with the standalone ASIO driver. however we simply cannot get the driver to function - we already have wavelab running on the machine, and while it recognizes the ASIO driver, selecting it produces an error 'the driver does not seem to match any hardware installed on the machine'. i'm a logic user myself, so i installed logic on this machine, and that too produced an error upon selecting the ASIO driver 'error 999 hardware is malfunctioning' the thing is, the hardware functions fine. only a short while ago it was doing its job with PTLE 5 under windows 98. windows has itself accepted the driver, and the 001 shows up fine in the device manager, with no conflicts or problems. its just getting the ASIO to function in a host application. i've searched all over the internet, and here at the DUC, and drawn a complete blank. one thing i did find suggested that SP2 might be the problem, but that was in a forum post that was never resolved, and formatting this machine for a whole new SP1 installation (we cant simply uninstall SP2) on the off-chance that it might help, is something i'd rather leave as a last resort !!! any suggestions ? |
