Default soundcraft digital 328

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I couldn't figure out where in the control surface part of the forum this should go.

Does anyone here have experience using the soundcraft 328 desk? I was wondering what the preamps were like and if it would still integrate with pro tools 10 to use as a control surface.

I had one a very long time ago (10+ years, before I started using PT). Very nice sounding desk with plenty of features but I never got it to work as a control surface with Logic. Couldn't even get the transport controls to work.

Thanks Warren

So would you rate the preamps as at least useful i.e. better than my digi 002 ones?

Also although you didn't get it to work as a controller can it be used as a mixing desk on its own?

Thanks again

Yes, I found the preamps very good, can't say how they are compared to the 002 as I've never had one.
As a desk though it was excellent, plenty of inputs (16 mic pres as I remember) for when I had a room full of vintage synths (coming in on line inputs). With a couple of AD converters to ADAT you can have 32 input channels on what is quite a compact desk.
You can store mixer snapshots too, but I never got it to work fully automated.
You can pick them up quite cheaply so you will get a load of kit for your money. It's way to big for my desk furniture now though!
Great monitoring functions too...
