PTLE 8.0.4 and Purple MC77 hangs at startup?

so I received a Purple MC77 transferred to my iLok account (yes, it was an eBay purchase...). I've followed the KB articles that say not to use the 8.0 plugin updates (these ask for a license card or a challenge/response code - I did originally try this). Then I installed the 7.4 Classic Compressors update. Now when I startup Pro Tools 8.0.4, it gets to loading the plugins, shows "Purple Audio MC77" and hangs there. Actually, originally it hung at the BF-2A plug, but I then moved that to my unused plugins folder and now it hangs on the MC77.

So, I have a valid ilok license (see link below). I believe I have the correct plugin (7.4) but its not working. I've even moved every other plugin to the unused folder and it still hangs here. I noticed that it installed a second copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable . it installed 8.0.56336 and I already had version 8.0.59193 installed. so I uninstalled the older version but it didn't seem to make a difference. I also have the x64 version of this library installed (v8.0.56336) since this is 64-bit Windows 7.

My PACE drivers are at 5.8.1.2 (I believe updated by the Waves installer). I see there is later version (5.8.13.3234) so I will try that next.

Does anyone else have the MC77 working on x64 Windows 7 and PTLE 8.0.4?

Mine works in 8.0.4 and 8.0.3/4b. In W7/64 Pro. Although I seldom use it.

same problem here - just installed 8.0.4 and clssic compressors dont work anymore...

any solution to that?

go search the knowledgebase and there is a link to download the 7.4 drivers - that is suppsoed to work but hangs for me. the 8.0 drivers use some new auth scheme that didn't work for my iLok license

I'm on HD.. just realized I'm in the wrong place - does this work for HD as well?

I tried the latest Pace drivers but that did not make a difference. Still hangs as soon as it hits the v7.4 MC77 plugin.

Not sure about HD, but I think this is a native licnese right ? So probably the same issue. does your hang Pro Tools (like mine does) when it starts up, or just doesn't load or won't authorize?

TOM@METRO -- which plugin package did you install to get it to work?

I purchased the $35. upgrade to the factory pro bundle. It gave me new ilok licenses and versions but I don't remember exactly what they were. I'm not at the studio computer now.

yes, I tried those links. At first I installed the v8 package. It loaded and prompted me to authorize which is when I re-read the article there and realized that I probably need the 7.4 plugin since I don't have a license card or challenge/response code - just a iLok license.

So I uninstalled the v8 plugins and installed the 7.4 instead. now, when it tries to load the plugin it just hangs and Pro Tools never completes loading. If I uninstall the 7.4 plug (Classic Compressors) then everything boots fine again, but no MC77 plugin.

Is there a way to "upgrade" my iLok license to the 8.0 version so I can use those plugins (they at least try to load and don't hang the system)?
