Default Tempo Change for a 24 measure section in the middle of a cue??

Hello Fellow Pro Toolians,
I am a recent Logic gone Pro tools guy and I am trying to change the tempo in the middle of a piece of music for about 24 measures.
Pro Tools 10.3.2 won't allow me to do this? I am stunned and probably doing something wrong..
When i go into the tempo operations and i have the section needed to be slower in the outlined boxes it tells me this cant be done because i am in Manual Tempo mode.
I've tried the pencil tool, the grabber tools, etc. to no avail. When I put the conductor track on my clips shuffle around.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I would be very grateful.

When you switch to the conductor track, you'll need to put a tempo setting at bar one beat one that matches the "manual" setting. If your "manual" is at 96, and you have a setting at the beginning of the tempo track at 96, then your clips shouldn't move around when you enable the conductor. Is this all midi?

If you don't want your clips to follow tempo changes then the tracks should be in samples mode, not ticks mode (lower left hand corner of the track display in the edit window - you can set them all by option-selecting, or just do individuals. Default behavior is set in prefs -> editing: "new tracks default to Tick Timebase").

best,
rich

This is why I was asking if it was all midi or not. If the conductor track is set to a different tpo than the manual you'd expect the clips to move a little bit when you switch back and forth. If you've got a combination of audio and midi clips, they default to different track types, so it could look more chaotic when switching.

Not knowing the OP's level of experience I'd say he should find the bits in the reference guide talking about sample-based vs. tick-based tracks and check them out.

Aaaah Yeeaaah!
Thank You so much Rich and bashville!! I can and can't believe it was such a simple thing and that I have read about sample based and tick based options many times and never have had any use for it yet so it just went right over my tired head.
You guys rock, Thanks Again!!
