Default Protools freezes when selecting Digi 002 in playback engine

Hello everyone. I am having an issue with pro tools 10 and my digi 002. At first it worked fine but since I recently plugged in an M Audio ProjectMix I/O console and changed the setting in the playback engine, every time I try to switch it to the 002, pro tools freezes at "creating DAE objects". When I hold down "N" while loading Protools, and switch the playback engine to "Pro Tools Aggregate," it opens up fine. I am unable to use my 002 except to monitor from my iMac through the alternate source to monitors. I am unable to use the my mic because I can't change the inputs. I am running OSX Lion 10.74 on an iMac with 8gb ram... I have uninstalled and reinstalled pro tools to no avail. Does anyone know why this is happening or have any advice. Like I said it worked fine until I changed the playback engine and the peripherals to accommodate the Project Mix I/O console (which I hate). Need my 002 back

Thanks ahead of time for any help

I would try trashing prefs:

Reboot with MBox2 plugged in. Launch PT 10. During splash screen hold down N key and your playback engine window will appear... select MBox 2 and OK. It should open PT and set your MBox2 as the playback engine.

Try that first before having to remove drivers, etc from the ProjectMix

Thanks for the advice. Will do, but I am a little concerned about what this will erase/affect. Will I still have all my plug-ins and my saved pre-sets? Any important preferences I might wanna change back right away?

Also I just want to clarify that its the digi 002 and not an MBox 2 if it matters

I could not find a driver for the Digi 002. Do they exist or are they unnecessary because the digi 002 is an Digidesign product?

Thanks. watching the video again now

Trashing prefs will not remove anything you need... it just lets PT create a new set of preferences when it launches.

Link for drivers is here...

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en379411

and scroll down to the following...

Pro Tools Firewire Device Drivers

002 and 003 Family Drivers
Separate installation required for Pro Tools 9 and 10 users on Mac and Windows
Do not install on Pro Tools LE 8.x Mac systems (can be installed on LE 8.0.5 Windows, but not necessary, see next item)
003 Family and Digi 002 Family drivers are included with Pro Tools LE 8 Mac and Windows installation and 8.x updates
Windows drivers updated March 9, 2011 - v9.0.2.65
Mac drivers updated October 20, 2011 - v9.0r3

Okay. I think I got it figured out. Its working for now.

I got the midi driver that I missed by skipping from PT 8 from to PT 10 bypassing PT 9.

I trashed the prefs like you said but it still was freezing. But, when I opened PT with the Aggregate pro tools I/O and then switched the playback engine to digi 002 and protools closed and gave me the prompt that "The hardware is not connected or is in use by another program". This got me thinking and...

In all this working with a new console (The projectMix I/O) I've came under the assumption that I had to connect the Hardware Consoles (002 and ProjectMix) with "Avid Core Audio Manager" in order to get a firewire connection. I am now assuming the Avid core audio manager is to run sound from other programs. ???
Thanks a lot for your help. The links were great. They helped me and hopefully will help someone in the future.
