Thinking of switching to 5.2 on OS 9.. suggestions

I have been going on a never ending struggle to run 6.1 on my OSX operating system with 800 mhz. I have a buddy who runs on OS9, i think he uses 5.2 or 6.1... i dont know and i runs beatifully from what he says. I just started using VST's, and the first VST i load as a plug in was Moog Modular.. the whole screen got screwed up and got a 'pro tools unexpectaly quit' within 30 seconds of loading the vst.

I am really considering of using OS9 instead of OSX. and going to pro tools 5.2.

do you thinkl its a good move for me to do that, i mean i cant produce [bleep] with how slow pro tools is running.
