MP3 Update Authorization Problem
I've just updated my paid for MP3 Option .dll to version 1.1.1.0 as per instructions from Digidesign Technical Support to try and solve another problem I was having. Now, however, I get the authorization screen when I attempt to use the MP3 Option and it asks me to insert my authorization diskette. Only problem is, I got my authorization in a download and don't have an authorization diskette. Has anyone else had this problem and received a solution from Digidesign? I found one post with the same problem, but the only answer was to contact Support. I was hoping someone already had so I could use MP3 Option this weekend.
Thanks,

Re: MP3 Update Authorization Problem
I had the same problem but was told to call a long distance # and pay for tech support (for a $20 plug-in?!?! I don't think so!!). For some reason, no one would answer my question regarding an auth diskette??
Did you solve the problem? If so, please post it here!! Tks |

Re: MP3 Update Authorization Problem
I had originally posted this topic because I was trying to solve a problem - not being able to import MP3s I'd bounced out of Pro Tools LE with the MP3 Option. I was told by Tech Support to download a new MP3.dll and ran into the problem I started this post about - not being able to authorize the MP3 Option with the new .dll installed.
I think I've solved a major part of the mystery. Not why I can't use the new .dll for the MP3 Option in Pro Tools LE, but why I can't re-import MP3s I've bounced out or other people have sent me that they bounced out of Pro Tools LE. I tried a little experiment: I set up one session for 24/48, recorded a short voice track and bounced out an MP3 file at 48000 and 44100. I set up another session at 16/44.1 and again bounced out an MP3 at 48000 and 44100. I then set up two new sessions, one at 24/48 and the other at 16/44.1 and then tried to import the four MP3 files back in to each of the new sessions. I was half successful. I could import - to either a 24/48 or 16/44.1 session - both the 16/44100 and 24/44100 MP3 files without any problem. If I tried to import the 16/48000 or 24/48000 MP3 I got the warning: Could not complete the 'Import Audio to Track..." Command because: (Mp3Ssc) Warning: Decoder-synceof Looks like you can bounce an MP3 out at 48000, but you can't import an MP3 at 48000. Matter of fact, the converter I use - MusicMatch Jukebox - will convert to WAV any MP3s at 16/48000 or 24/48000 and you can import these WAV files into a Pro Tools session, so there's an easy workaround. However, MusicMatch won't accept anything but 16/44.1 MP3s or WAVs to make a Music CD to play on the home stereo. It wouldn't even accept the WAV files it converted from the 16/48000 and 24/48000 MP3s although once these were reconverted by MusicMatch to MP3s it would accept them for CD-A. As another experiment, I used MusicMatch to convert the MP3 files that were 16/48000 and 24/48000 to MP3s. Then they were accepted by MusicMatch to convert to CD-A. Guess you have to be very aware of what the files are going to be used for before you bounce them out and/or you, or the person the files are going to, have to know that you have to convert the files if you want to use them in Pro Tools LE or burn them to a Music CD. Sorry to be so long winded. Hope this was helpful, TTYL Bruce

Re: MP3 Update Authorization Problem
The workaround solution is free. www.musicmatch.com Allows you to convert wav to mp3 and back at any quality you want and burn audio to disc. Its killer. Get it.
