Urgent Help, MAc Gurus - DVI1 stopped in the middle of mastering job

Hi,
I was in the middle of a mastering session and from nothing my DISPLAY 1 ( 40" LCD FHD Samsung ) stopped working.

I changed cables, adapters, shifted monitor connections from DVI1 to DVI2 and always DV1 is "blind".

I have a 19" Phillips at DVI2 of my MAC Pro 2.66.

I opened System Preferences, system finds both monitors but no image is provided at DVI anymore. What a drag.



Please, do not tell me DVI1 is damaged.

You can try to do all the resets possible to your mac, maybe that will help. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

Do you have another computer? Once one of our screens stopped functioning and no amount of cable swapping, resetting and general fiddling brought it back. We tried it on another machine and it worked immediately. Brought it back to the mac and it continued to work, even though nothing else had changed.

Worth a shot anyway.

You can try to remove the video card and let it rest for 10 minutes to get all the components to completely discharge.

An unlogical thing happened now...

The problem is really not with the LCD TV....

I substituted the DVI/VGA cable for a DVI/HDMI adapter cable ( in the mac side) to HDMI ( tv side) and image pops up, but even at 1920 x 1080 image is much worser than when I used the older cable .


Older cable : MAC side : DVI/HDMI adapter which was sent to VGA input of the Samsung. Believe me, image is much better than option 2 which was now tested ( DVI /HDMI adapter to Hdm1).

Seems MAC is rejecting adapters if both DVIs are used.

When using any HDMI input of the Samsung TV, image is really worser. At the Mac resolution selection, I have 1920 x 1080 set(interlaced).

Trying to make it work as used to be, although technically nuts ( DVI/HDMI adapter at one side and VGA PC at the Samsung side). Perfect image for over 1 year.

Since 10am, whenever I connect any adapter to MAC PRO 2.66 (2007) DVI1, image is not provided. However, it t is not a black screen but a purple tone.

If I connect a cable DVI/HDMI adapter (mac side) to any HDMI 1,2,3o r4 at Samung TV I get image, but at 1920 x 1080 i. ( horrible)

It used to be 1920 x 1080 using DVI/VGA adapter (mac side) and simple VGA at Samsung LCD side.

Your graphic card is probably the Nvidia 7300 ?(default card for the 1st generation MacPros)
I have a same MacPro(10.5.8) and two days ago after various and kind of weird symptoms the card died.

Have in mind that if(hope not)it dies the Latest ATI Radeon 4870(Upgrade option for Nehalem Macs)
works.
