Default switching between active and inactive problem

What I find is this: Even if there is plenty of free DSP, a track won't come back when I "make selected track active". I still have to click on every output and reinstantiate everyplug in for the track to become active again. This 90% negates the convienience of deactivating tracks, if I have to do as many mouse clicks to reactivate them as I did to build the mixer in the first place.
Funny thing is, if I deactivate a groujp of tracks, then reactivate them right away, they all come back. But if I deactivate tracks, reactivate other tracks, work for an hour, then deactivate the new tracks and try to reactivate the first group, no dice. 50 mouse clicks later, I'm ready to work. There must be a way to kick the dsp and force it to allocate reasources where they are needed, no? Please?

-I have been able to reproduce this behavior. It looks as if this situation occurs when attempting to reactivate inactive tracks after the session has been closed and then reopened.

-Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Related to the track activation. I did a transfer of empty tracks from a template I laid out into a new session. Same bit rate start time etc. The new tracks had no audio regions and no plug-ins. The session they were coming into was small with only a few tracks. All the tracks came in inactive. Is this normal?

Yes, this can happen due to the following:

-The session you are importing tracks from was created on an earlier version of Pro Tools.

-The current I/O Setup of your current session is different from that of tracks that you are importing.

Wow, this problem is a bummer! Damn. It's gonna' make me think twice about setting anything inactive. Tomcat's right, this render's this new feature about 90% useless. Hopefully 5.1.1 won't be too far away - especially since it seems 5.1 is even more of a DSP hog than 5.01, which makes being able to deactivate tracks an essential feature...!

I had the same problem without closing and reopening the session... reactivating any tracks left the plugs inactive. Bummer...

Later,
Brian
