Wow, that worked! Finally I can relink the original field recorder files without timecode issues.

Thank you so much for the hint.

I didn't try this because I read in many forums that embedded AAF should not be used or does not work at all with PT 10...

We're also trying this right now. Thank you for the hint!

The export from AMC has worked (6 GB size) and I am waiting for the upload to finish...

Well I don't remember the particulars of PT10 but telling Avid to make an embedded AAF is a way to force the AMA media to consolidate. Otherwise it will try to point to it's original location or show an error like you posted.

It could be that in PT10 the original metadata isn't translated from an embedded AAF... I seem to recall an issue with that at some point but that could have been a Premiere issue. Anyway I hope you're able to work with this one.

The embedded AAF larger than 2 GB also worked.

Yes, the conforming process for embedding media seams to be more sane than the one for copying files to a folder.

Both methods didn't remove the meta data.
But with external files their timestamps don't match the ones of the original files anymore. I think it's bug because it re-encodes them but not to the original length. Hence it's more like consolidating them but without correcting the timecodes.

Cheers,
Till

2GB file limit is for OMFs, not AAFs.

As @its2loud mentioned you have to check the option “AAF Edit Protocol”. Otherwise Media Composer complains about too large files...

That must be an MC limitation. Adobe Premiere is happy to do it.

Maybe they just kept this as the default setting for compatibility reasons. AFAIK this limit of 2 GB was only an issue on some older file systems and not of the rendering software itself.
