You have a few choices. One is to still have some of the hear back being fed analog (if it can do that) so you have console access and talkback still makes it through. Or, if you want to go all ITB for your sends, you'd have to add an Aux Input and route your talkback mic through PT's mixer.

It´s really the user choice: either feeding it from PT or from the mixing console.

Either ADAT input or via it´s 8 analogue inputs.

When working with a console(don´t know which one you use) you probably end up using the analogue inputs of the Hub.

If fed from PT, depending on your available hardware outs, it can be either one, analogue or ADAT.

I used to feed the Hearback system from an SSL using the group busses and the console´s talkback out on one of the inputs.

For larger sessions, it was usually fed from PT itself, via SSL Alpha Link converters. In this case, using Auxes.

I mean, it´s really up to you, it depends on your workflow. The inputs are there, you know your output capability in terms of converters, just try the diferent options. You may end up using both approaches depending on your sessions. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the replies I really liking the adat I guess I could set up a talkback mic in the control room and route it to aux track and then out to one of the optical outs of the hd io,but it is nice having the flex ability of going either digital or analog ,thanks iz

I am somewhat plagued with the same issue.... I'd love to use the optical from my HD I/O, but would sacrifice the ease of my talkback setup.... since I would have to route talkback through pro tools... granted, I could save track presets in pro tools and simply mute/unmute my talkback mic, but this isn't the greatest solution

I would love it if they would add a dedicated talkback in/out to the I/O's, a footswitch jack, and add a button to the Toolbar GUI - and then add a button to my control surface :)

Then let us grab it and route it internally from the I/O Mixer

Just think! We could have a custom DB15 cable that breaks out to Talkback Mic In/Out/Footswitch..... Then the Accessory Port would finally have a purpose ! ! !

It seems like some of the mixers have these issues.... I read some stuff about tech support walking owners through jumping a trace - due to potential trace failure.... I have not looked at one yet - but I do intend to crack one open, as I may mount one in a console (long story)

I do hear that HEAR provides awesome tech support, and have even heard of them replacing equipment at no charge, out of warranty

If you continue having issues, consider calling or emailing them

Craig... Really?

Have you ever had this?

Honestly.... never heard anyone seriously complain about the quality of a CD for standard listening (Regardless of performance)

The headphones and converters themselves (headphones mainly) would be the single biggest complaint I've seen

Never really heard about anyone complaining about in ear monitors either.... more or less the opposite....

I would be flabbergasted.... hahahha.... I really don't even know what I would say if I heard:

'hey man.... what's going on with my feed? Am I on 44,100 or 48,000 samples per second? What the crap?'

hahahahhaa.... wow.... I'd be like, 'yeah, ok, your hourly rate just increased'

Of the guys I know that are still doing album work for labels they are working at 96k or 192k

All I'm saying is if your working at 96k the optical option is removed from the table
