Re: another rewire question??????????
Here's an advanced routing method that a lot of members on the DUC use, I personally like this method also, triggering and editing are fast and flowing. You can achieve some nice drum beats and fills this way.
Pro Tools' Mix Window Create ten Mono Instrument tracks Hold Shift and Alt click the first Fader Double click Track Name and rename each track accordingly, clicking Next (I use: BD 1, SN 1-4, TOM 1-2, HH 1-2, CYM) But if I want two Bass Drum sounds, I'll change them accordingly: BD 1 and BD 2 Insert Reason into the first mono Instrument track Reason's Flipped Rack (Tab) Edit>Select All Devices Edit>Disconnect Device ReDrum's Output Channel One, click and drag to Hardware Interface Input Channel One Left click Hardware Interface Channel Two and Disconnect Drag the remaining ReDrum Output Channels 2-10 to their corresponding Hardware Interface Input Channels 2-10 Pro Tools' Mix Window Assign ReWire to Mix L Insert Reason in all remaining mono Instrument tracks, assigning Rewire accordingly Mix R through to Channel 10 View>Mix Window and if Instruments is not checked, Check. In all mono Instrument tracks, click MIDI Output Selector and assign them to ReDrum Channel 10 Pro Tools' Edit Window First Instrument track (BD 1) click Track Height Selector>Single Note>Octave 1>C1 Repeat this process with all remaining Instrument tracks, but each Instrument track will be mapped to a different Note C1 through to A1 = Ten Instrument Tracks Saving these as Templates Use Save As command for both Reason and Pro Tools. You can save both in the same Folder. For loading a Pro Tools Template use File>Import>Session Data Now, using the Pencil tool (Free Hand), place your triggers. Use the Horizontal Zoom buttons accordingly, if display is not practical. Setup>Preferences>MIDI>General>Play MIDI Notes when Editing, personal choice. Reason's Flipped Rack (Tab) In ReDrum's Interface Channel Strip One, click the Folder symbol, this should open up Sample Browser, navigate your way to where you keep your samples and load your required sound. You have Ten Channel Strips available. MIDI Drums Secrets Revealed (Adding that Human Touch) I hope this works as efficiently as it does for myself. filosofem
