My Neve Compressor is Screaming and Pinging

My Neve screams and Pings when I insert it as hardware into PT to use as a plugin. I have a Lynx Aurora as my AD Convertor. I hooked up the Neve via the snakes' XLRs (channels 3-4) so it was hard to screw that up.

In the end, after trying a lot of things, I created (on the advice of a smart friend) an Empty PT session with just a stereo Audio Track and a Master Fader.

I hooked up the XLRs but MADE NO ASSIGNMENTS OR INSERTS IN PT. All I had to do was turn the compressor on and it screamed as the volume maxed out.

BTW, I hooked up a preamp in the same way and it screamed as well.

The Neve is fine offline and with nothing connected. It starts up normally.

I had this issue with MY IGS Tubecore 3U Compressor
I do not know if this will help your situation BUT

To back up a bit I am on Catalina and PT Ultimate 2020.12 using an Avid Carbon as my interface per my system in sig line below .

And I do not know if your Lynx will show up at all the same way and same options in the Setup >Hardware Setup > I/O tab ????

If I remember correctly my issue was I had not "ByPassed" the Line In Gain option.. for the channels my Comp was on (5-6)

So below the Line In Gain is on for channels 1-4 because those are the channels I am using the Carbon's on board mic pres. Channels 5-8 are for my Hardware Comp and Reverb so those are bypassed because I use the gain in from those those units controls

At first I simply switched the Line Out Reference level to -10. which stopped the scream but I had to crank the 3U way up to get any compression happening . I then checked with IGS and was told it wants to see +4 so then I tried the Line In bypass and that worked

Yeah,
The Lynx shows up as one or two '192' type interfaces, depending on your card interface and the model you have.
