you mean the demo won't allow it right?

The interface is nice....I like it already just finding the way around. It scanned all my prior data paths.....Still haven't finished the 37gb new kits

What about the new library?

The more I see of BFD3..... I just don't think its for me, unless they make some changes - which totally sucks for me 'cause I was all in with BFD2 and I much prefer making beats in the BFD editor vs. the piano roll. I won't make any final decisions until FX releases the demo so I can try it. At least they are AAX64 now so people have more choices for Drum VI's in PT11.

It would be nice if FX offered a way to upgrade just the BFD2 application to BFD3 without buying the new library - for a lot less money. I'm very happy with the sounds I've already created in BFD2 with the expansions I already own, I just want to use them directly in PT11. That's how Slate does their SSD4, you can buy Platinum, EX, or Custom and get the same exact player/application, only the library is different.

I'll look into the Bluecat MB-7 mixer since guitardom said BFD2 is working well with it in PT11 - since we are STILL waiting for Strike and SSD4 to go AAX64.

With all the changes in BFD3, what are we going to see with Geist, Tremor, and Synth Squad? I have all of them and I sure hope I won't need to spend $149 to upgrade each of them just for AAX64 support.

I'm looking forward to the BFD3 demo, hopefully I'll be able to use my expansions with the demo version. I also want to see how the image files are structured so I can see if I will be able to re-skin it with images made in Blender or GIMP.

I'm interest to hear some reviews from you guys who already have BFD3, care to share your impressions?
The image structure is the same. you can use Jpeg, Png, or Tga. All my custom stuff comes through fine into 3.

The interface is just different. Its already feeling quicker as I dont have to jump pages for everything, its all right there. Tweaking kit piece parameters, mixer, kit view, kit and piece changes, it all right there with no jumping around. But it will take some time to get comfortable as it is quite a bit different and has a different feel. The groove editor is also more tightly wound in with everything. Its not taking any time at all to learn how to do the basics, there are just a few things that are going to be slow.

I am having issues with the Joe Barressi stuff right now. Cannot get any of the sounds loaded though the pics and options are there to load. Some of the BFD 2 content seems to be missing as well. I have all my other packs working. Letting each piece in a kit "upgrade" after loading it the first time is rather slow. I have not found how to get the kit piece details without having the piece loaded on the kit. There are a few things like this that assume will just take time.

The new kit sounds I have checked out are very good. Far better imo than the previous "factory" banks for rock/metal. Some Mapex stuff which is very cool, and a Tama Black Panther which I have always really liked!

The Evil Drums are working fine here in BFD3.... What's the data path of your Evil Drums data?

Cheers,

Rail

Why won't you be able to use your old libraries? SKot from fxpansion came on here and I asked him about it. The process fxpansion is using just scans our old libraries and creates a separate file with data that BFD 3 uses. The original old library is not changed at all.

Wow every bodies here early huh....

It seems it's a limitation of the demo - a built in limitation

Had to get up and feed the cats.
If it's just the demo that has the limitation that MIGHT be workable but not ideal. Going a little further in the same vein - I wonder if BFD3 will be able to access the BFD2 factory content?
