Default Digi 001 Mac Setup

Hey folks,

I'm thinking about changing my Digi 001 PC setup to Mac, and I've been looking on ebay at the old G4s. What's a decent spec for running the Digi 001 and Pro Tools LE 6.4?

Cheers

Joe

I'm running my ProTools on a G4 400mhz with 1G memory and 120gb hd with no issues at all. So anything more than that would just be icing on the cake!

Have fun!

Get the fastest one you can afford .I recommend the Quicksilver dual 1,or 1.25. or 1.42 I had the G4 400 before and had no problems, except the cpu not handeling enough plug ins. You should be able to get a nice Mac for $ 800-1200

Ok, cheers for the input.
I also noticed on this page http://www.digidesign.com/compato/osx/001/g4.cfm
that it doesn't say anything about 400mhz processors. Does this mean I can't use a 400mhz G4?

Cheers
Joe

if i were you i ouldent run ptotools 6.4 with a g4 400 - he is not that powerfull - for handling protools and the os x .... but i might say that i had one 2 years ago - i ten protools 5.2.1 on it and for 3 years he was stable and strong as a rock solid platgorm for recording- the best apple computer i hve ever had hands down.... for the past 2 years i have nothing but trubels with my G4 1.25Mhz - but when it runs protools - in between the crashes he is pretty dame fast

I'm running PT LE 5 on a 466 MHz Digital Audio G4 (an ebay purchase) for about 8 months now, and it is rock solid.
