Hi all,
this is a desperate cry. I've installed Mac OSX 10.2 on my G4 400 Mhz 448 Ram and it doesn't work. I've done everything that's to be done... the installation goes very well, but when it's time to boot it always hangs in a diferent place. The thing is, i haven't seen OSX running yet after one week. I've tried to pull off all the RAM, all the components are the ones that came with my MAC, everything regarding hardware is OK, i even did the Firmware upgrade... but still a no no... Any, i repeat, ANY help will be appreciated... my 6.0.2 will be home any day, now... AAARGGHH !!! Thanks, Al.

try this,
-boot off the install cd then quit out of the installer and run the disc utility program also on the install disk. try to repair permissions and verify/repair the directories. if you can't find it it's also in the applications/utilities folder on your OSX drive. -you might have to defrag your hard drive. My OSX disc actually installed the OS fragmented(!!) on a clean formatted disk.....I erased the disc and did it again just to test and sure enough it was fragmented even though the OS was the only thing on the disc. weird eh? anyway I ran Norton and all was good again. -I also recomend pulling one of your 128 Ram chips and replacing it with a 512meg. OSX is a ram hog -make sure your OSX drive is HSF+ (extended) format. I'm running on a G4 450 w/1gb Ram. and PTLE can be a bit sluggish unles I repair permissions just before I start up PTLE. after that It runs tickity boo...... |

I made it!!!
I bought a 512 RAM expansion module but that didn't solve the problem. The thing is i had bought a new HD (80 Gig) with its IDE cable... that was the problem THE IDE CABLE . I replaced it as a last option in the last minute before throwing my Mac through the window, but... then i boot normaly and perfectly. AAAAA JAJAJAJA !!! I'm so happy !!!
