Default Digi 002R & Snow Leopard compatibility issue?

Hi Guys.

Hoping someone might be able to help me out here.

I've just upgraded my computer to the latest MacBook Pro and transferred all of my old info, applications etc from my old MacBook to it via Time Machine. Everything had appeared to work with no problems...until I tried to launch any of my audio applications and switch my audio output/inputs to my Digi002R.

At first my computer wouldn't recognize that the 002 was there in any of my application preferences (GarageBand, ProTools LE, iTunes or in my System Sound Preferences) although the computer did recognize that it existed when I looked in About This Mac>More Info..>System Profiler.

Since then I have upgraded all of my software to the latest drivers and the good news is that when I launch GarageBand as an example, the Digi002 audio option shows up under Audio Input/Output. The bad news is that when I select it to try and use it I am getting this error message:
__________
Digi CoreAudio Manager cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Digi CoreAudio Manager works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

I have upgrade all of the software (as below) so I am wondering if the problem is that the Digi 002R is not being supported by Digidesign and/or Snow Leopard now.

Mac OSX 10.6.4
ProTools Le 8.0.1
Digi CoreAudio Manager 8.0.3

Can anybody shed a little light for me here at all?
Do I need to upgrade my hardware if I want to use it with Snow Leopard?

Thanks in advance for taking a minute.

Cheers,
Dave

I couple of things wrong here. First, are you installing Pro Tools AND the standalone Core Audio driver? It appear so from your post:

Quote:
ProTools Le 8.0.1
Digi CoreAudio Manager 8.0.3
The Core Audio Manager should be the same version as Pro Tools - it's installed when you install Pro Tools and the standalone version is only for systems that don't have Pro Tools installed.

Second - you need Pro Tools 8.0.3 or higher for compatibility with Snow Leopard. I would recommend a clean uninstall, restart and install Pro Tools 8.0.3 or higher (8.0.4 is the current version), making sure the box for Core Audio Driver is checked during installation.

Question Re: Digi 002R & Snow Leopard compatibility issue?

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. So hello everybody!
I hope you guys can help me with my problem.

Like ruralrecords I've got the same connection problem with my DIGI002r.
The difference is, I don't have any error messages. Also 2 days ago it was working fine on an iMac (early 2009) with OSX 10.5.8.

I run OSX 10.6.5 / PT 8.0.4 on a Mac Pro Quad (late 2009)

When connect the firewire (800<->400-cable) from the mac to the 002r the
1394 Backpanel-Link-LED shows connection. (All connected with power off and power on by first the 002r and second the mac)
I did a clean un-install en re-install Protools 8.0.4. After a restart I try to open protools but I will not recognized the hardware. Also iTunes, Quicktime or other audio apps don't open the CoreAudio Manager

Another weird problem will appear when the 002r is connected and OSX startup fine, all the external HardDrives (firewire) will not be recognized. (no Disks in Disk Utility). External Drives will only be recognized when shut down the mac, disconnect the 002r and restart OSX. (Then they show up in Disk Utility and finder)
I think the problem is somewhere between the 002r and the CoreAudio Manager. I don't know if the 002r (firewire port on the 002r) or the CoreAudio Manager (in OSX 10.6.5) is the problem. Even the 800<->400-cable is tested and ok!

I Hope someone can help me?
OneMoreThing: Will this problem be solved with the protools 9 software (with better CoreAudio Manager Drivers)?

Regards,

Iwan

I use an 002r on 10.6.5 just fine, using a 2008 Mac Pro 8x2.8ghz. Worked great with 8.0.x and works fine with PT9 as well. Note however that I NEVER install the CoreAudio drivers, I avoid them like the plague.

@Slim thnx!

The connection problem also is solved in Snow Leopard (10.6.5)
First we reconnect the 002r on the iMac (running Leopard 10.5.8) it was running on and try to open protools. This was actually working!
Back to my MacPro and try to open protools again, ta-ta it's working!
I really don't know what happened but it's working fine.
