What happens after the four years of frre up grades in the acdemic version?

I want to know if u can still upgrade after the four years of acdemic free upgrades are finished. Can u pay and continue upgrading or do u have to buy a whole new program?

Of course you can continue to pay for upgrades. The first paid upgrade, my prediction is going to be 9.5

Might sound odd but that's my guess. An upgrade whether it's 9.5 or 10 will probably cost 50-100. So if you're worried you'll have to come up with $600, you won't lol it'll be affordable.

Generally with the Academic version you get what is advertised. You'll get 4 years of free upgrades (most people graduate in 4 years), after that time if you are still a student you can purchase another academic license, if you graduated then it's time to pay full price. I mean come on, you get it for half price + 4 years of free upgrades, what more do you want?

my lil bro is wondering the same thing because with Final Cut Pro you can get an 'academic' version that is the full blown software, but when the next version comes out you have to pay FULL price for the full version, no upgrade path.

he's hoping to just pay the normal upgrade fees and not have to rebuy a full price software license (actually in his case he's thinking of getting an HD IO bundle, the b*stard!).

You wont have to pay a full price. The avid rep my sales rep spoke to at sweetwatet said its exactly the same you just get some free upgrades down the line but after you just pay what people with the full price versions to get upgrades.
