Pro Tools Won't Open - Always Crashes.

Hello: I'm brand new to this forum. I hope I'm posting this correctly.

I recently purchased a monthly subscription for Pro Tools 12 from Avid.com store. Every time I attempt to open the program it crashes almost immediately.
I downloaded the drivers. I have the licenses on my ilok. No luck, any ideas? I can post additional info if needed.

What happens when you hold down the N key while it is trying to start?

This could be session specific.

Try holding the SHIFT key when opening a session. This will bypass all active plugins and if the session opens up just fine, then you may have a plugin issue.

Often times a plugin update will remedy this.

Tried holding down N, and had the same problem.

How do I trash prefs?

Check for errors and crash reports in the OSX Console. It may give you an idea of what's causing the crash.

When it crashes what display do you receive, send to Avid or Apple, none of the above? Like ChuckS says, can you check the system logs for error messages.

I know this is not fun, but what's the last message on the startup splash display that you see? ( my assumption you are at least getting that far )

USB2 or USB3 ports on the computer? There is a well-known issue with iLoks and USB3 ports. The usual remedy is to plug the iLok into a USB2 hub and the hub into the computer.
