Default Tape Emulation Plugin?

Hey all!

I am looking for a tape emulation plugin that will serve two current needs. One being (obviously) to help add the elements of a tape machine such as saturation, warmth, etc. The other is specific for a project I am currently working on that requires sound design elements of a tape machine rewinding/fast-forwarding. I could easily use elastic audio or a time plugin in conjunction with a "tape" plugin but was hoping for something that could do both.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers,
Andrew

Lots of suggestions here:

For the "physical" rewinding sounds, etc., probably best just to look for samples, unless you really mean making it sound like your audio is being sped up or slowed down. In which case you're best off finding a real machine....

You could look at Serato Pitch n' Time.

Besides being one of the best time-stretching plugs, it also has a "non-time-stretching" mode where speeding it up also makes the pitch go up, the way you'd expect from tape. There's also kind of an automation graph where you could maybe design the type of effect you're looking for. I've never used that part of it.

You can also try the stock Vari-Fi plug-in.

My favorite tape emulation plugins are the UAD ones alongside the Slate Digital.
