Default Mac Pro 2010 64 bit kernel ?

Hi
Has anyone yet tried the a 2010 Mac Pro with PTLE? If, then I suppose one must configure the OS to boot with 32 bit kernel and not the 64 bit, which is the default setting. Can anybody confirm this?
Any other observations with the new Mac Pros? Positive / negative? How about the OSX 10.6.4 compatibility? Any issues?

Regards,
Tuomas - Finland

64 bit kernel works just fine with LE and I have had ZERO issues with 10.6.4

Just got my 2.4 8 core yesterday and it now defaults to 64 bit. I use NI Maschine and the driver isn't 64 bit so I had to boot in 32 bit no biggie. To my surprise Pro Tools 8.1 worked well when I was still in 64 bit mode even though PT is still 32 bit.
So I am excited I think everything will come together soon. I heard March of 2011 Pro Tools will be full 64 bit.
I am downloading PTIEP now and will report back

I tried running an iMac i5 in 64bit mode with PT 8.0.4. It ran OK, but I did encounter some issues every now and then. Seemed a bit hit and miss.

Under 32bit mode I have no issues at all - well except for that stupid invalid region bounds msg.

My suggestion would be to run it in 32bit atm.

Thanks for info!
Do you use any 3rd party plug-ins in 64-bit mode?
Any Waves / Izotope plugins running?

Ozone 4 works perfect

One thing that needs to be said about Pro Tools on a Mac Pro... Even though you can have all 16 cores used as RTAS processors, you should only use 7 or 8 and set their usage to 99%

When I used all 16, I got tons of drop outs and errors until I read here in the DUC to use about half. Now it takes just about anything I throw at it

I can have 4 or 5 VI's like Superior Drummer, Omnisphere, Trilian, and Nexus playing in real time along with Amplitube 3 with Pro Tools set at 64 samples for low latency and its flawless
