Default Confused about audio track-count in PT 10

Could someone give me the exact amount of tracks you can have in PT10?

In the comparison chart it says 32, but that's simultaneous tracks.
Does that mean how many audio-tracks that can run at the same time on playback, or is it how many that can be recorded on at the same time?
It can't be the total amount of audio-tracks inside of a PT-session.

I've read 128 stereo tracks total in PT 10. Could someone confirm?

  • 96/48/24 maximum simultaneous audio tracks @ 48/96/192 kHz
  • 32 maximum simultaneous audio recording tracks
  • 64 instrument tracks
Does this help?

So that's 96 stereo tracks @ 48 kHz?

If it's Mono then that sucks.. I gotta go get Logic Pro in that case.

You do know about this web thing. It lets you look up the specs yourself....

And real world reliable limit might be well less of course depending on plugs, compute platform, hard drive performance, etc.

Logic Pro is great for many things, I love the MIDI editor, but would never go to it over Pro Tools for Audio.

You know, they used to be able to make whole albums with only 16 tracks and no virtual instruments. Imagine that.

Please I use to make whole songs with two Boom Boxes, bouncing from Boom Box to Boom Box for overdubs.

Mono or stereo. If you need more tracks you should have a look at Pro Tools HD or Complete Production Toolkit.

Good luck.

True. But i guess the key-words there are "used to"

Both too expensive. Thanks though!
But i should be good with 96 mono or stereo tracks.

For recording audio then? In that case i agree. But in MIDI-based songs i think it should work pretty well, and maybe even better then PT.
