Default Which active monitors should I buy?

I'm trying to decide between the Mackie HR824, Tannoy Reveal, Event(20/20, PS5, PS6,PS8).

Do any of you studio guys who have been exposed to alot of different monitors have any recommendations?
It doesn't have to be limited to the ones that I listed either.

Thanks,
Marc

I've got to go with the Mackie HR824's. They are the easiest set of speakers I've ever listened to. I don't come out of a mixing session feeling tired...as I have with other monitors.

I definitely liked the Mackies over the others stated above. I liked the Hafler TRM8s even better than the Mackies. Similar price for the pair too. Either way, you will have great monitors.
Good luck.

I have the active Tannoy Reveals and I'm very happy with them, but if I had the money I would have bought the Mackies. They're too expensive here in Australia.

Mlemos since you were so kind as to answer my post i will throw you some ideas
First: the krk v8 sounds nice
second the old altec lansing 604 series is Good thats what i have the G.
also the studios i have been to lately "besides mine" have been on the order of larger monitors I saw a Sony and a B and W is it. Are you mixing for broadcast?
Also i desighned some of my own
consisting of a 066 Jbl An old D208 jbl A044
Jbl and a le 14 Jbl they sound Great.
The 208 Jbl passes Guitar frequencys well
and it is alnico. The old d 130 Jbl was Great For Guitar. I have Perhaps smaller is better
but nothing i have is small nor do i see smaller speakers in most studios. I guess a mix is good Also you might like to stay away from Foam surrounds that deteriorate after a short time. Perhaps Pro Audio Review Has some Specs on some they have Reviewed.
Good Luck B. A. E.

Thanks saxbill,
have you ever mixed on any other active monitors?
I have heard most of them in stores but what i'm curious about is how they sound over long term use.

I used to own the 20/20 actives, hated them.
Decided to get the Mackies and never looked back.
It's great that you can audition different sets at the store, but be aware that your room settings/acoustics and speaker placement will highly alter the sound of your monitors.
From there, it's just a question of learning them, monitoring commercial CD tracks you are familiar with and to know where to cut or compensate.

It's a very subjective thing, monitors, so just trust your ears.
