need major help with BFD
Ok, this cant be right. BFD keeps crapping out on me. It will run for a minute, but then stop, telling me I need to increase my cpu usage or remove rtas plugs even though the only plug I am running is BFD. My friend has a less powerfull computer then my and hasnt had one problem.
This is the system I'm running and the way its set up, please tell me what I'm doing wrong. System: Apple Powerbook/Aluminum Mac OSX 10.3.9 1GHz Processor 1.25 GB of RAM Lacie Firewire Drive 160GB, 7200 rpm DIGI002 Rack COnfiguration: Since I only have one firewire port on my laptop, I have the 002 connected to the lacie drive which is connected to my laptop. I tried it the other way also with the 002 connected to the laptop and the lacie drive connected to the 002, got the same problems. The system software for BFD is on my laptop and the samples are on my lacie drive, just like Fxpansion said to do. CPU usage on 85% Buffer on 512, tried more, still the same problem Level 2 cache No other programs running while PT is open. Does anyone have any sort of solution for this??? PLEASE HELP ME. Thanks |

Re: need major help with BFD
It has nothing to do with the OS. That's just a lazy, angry answer. I don't personally know of a single person that is having problems with 10.3.9 and BFD any more than any other OS. 10.3.9 isn't approved because Digi has skipped the testing in favor of the newer OS.
I'm using a dual 2gig G5 and it craps out on me some times. I have 2 gigs of ram and a SATA hard drive. Everything is optimized to its full potential. If you're really hammering it, like playing a lot of rides at a fast tempo, it will choke on a 002. FYI - look in the manual. There are very good tips for altering BFD's setup so that it will play better. It works. |

Re: need major help with BFD
Despite posted minimum requirements, your rig may be a little on the light side for BFD.
I have a G5 dual 1.8 with 2g of RAM. I can't get BFD to run at 512 buffer...only 1024 (have to deal with the latency) I can't loop record (my preferred style of building a drum track) The only BFD suggestion I haven't attempted is a dedicated (3rd) hard drive for BFD. I love BFD..... but it is one very hungry plug!!! best of luck

Re: need major help with BFD
The third hard drive for BFD is pretty much essential. I was having all the problems mentioned and am running much better now that I have it coming from my FW 800 drive.
