Default How much Ram for BFD2 and Garritan?

Hey guys

I just ordered a MacPro and was wondering how much Ram does BFD2 and Garritan Personnal Orchestra needs?

I know the more the better, but I would like to have a starting point at least.

Thanks in advance

A Mac app can only access 4GB of RAM.. so I suggest 4GB.

So each application can take UP TO 4GB only right?

So if I run Protools+ BFD + Garritan

The MAX That It can use is 12GB right?

No - they're all running as plug-ins within Pro Tools, which is the host app - so the most they can use is 4GB all total.

Thanks a lot Rail!

I think however that any Rewire programs running outside of PT can use their own 4GB limit so if say you are a big user of Reason or Live you may want more. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

that's interesting to know too!
Cause I do use Reason and Melodyne along with Protools!
And I could feel that Melodyne is killing all the resources once I load Melodyne Bridge.

Thanks

Correct - a Rewire app is not a plug-in and has it's own address space.

Hello

I was wondering, if I would gain anything if I run BFD through Rewire?
I don't know if BFD2 still has it but BFD 1,5 had Rewire capability.
Would I benefit from the extra "RAM limit" that it gives to BFD?

Thanks in advance

Yes you would, but unfortunately they stopped making a ReWire version a whiles ago when most apps supported multi-outs.
